About me
Ella Shepherd was born and raised in DeLand by her parents Barb and Jeff Shepherd. Community activism was instilled in Ella from a young age by her first teachers, her parents. She started dancing in middle school and began her yoga practice when she moved to Washington state after college. Ella began her work in social activism at age 16, while campaigning for the presidential election and realizing that so many voters were disenfranchised. She went on to earn a Bachelor's in psychology from Stetson and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UCF. Ella's yoga teacher journey started at Warrior One in Orlando, she graduated the 200 hour training in December 2019, and she has never stopped learning how to better serve her students. She inherited You Do You from her sister, Anna in January of 2021 and changed the name to Community Yoga and Dance. Through her passion for social action, accessibility and justice, Ella structured the studio to be donation-based. Ella's commitment to justice compels her to offer therapy and yoga in our community.
